Welcome to billy harris Art.
After two decades of drifting through the back offices of corporate America as auditor, business analyst, IT consultant, etc., etc., I came to a day when I decided to take full responsibility for where I found myself in my life.
I dared to ask myself, "So what do I want to do with my life? What do I really and truly love?"
Over the next few days, weeks, months, God/Life/the Universe, whatever you want to call it, led me to a day where I woke up and remembered, "You know what I used to love to do as a kid? Draw. Not design. Draw. Not 'apply my creativity to business.' Draw."
So I did.
Growing up in architecturally rich New Orleans, I naturally acquired a love of all things architectural. I even obtained a Masters degree in Architecture from LSU, only to find out that, at the end of the day, who I "am" is much more "artist" than "architect."
In the spirit of "meeting myself where I am," it is my love of all things architectural, as well as landscapes, that represent the primary focus of my drawings. In that same spirit, I have been working mostly in pencil or pen. One day, as I grow as an artist, I will begin to incorporate more color theory; until then, I find that the black and white media are more than adequate in capturing the spirit of my drawing subjects.
